The Nigerian Dream by Shosanya Babatunde Oluwaseyi.
It's so disheartening the situation we find ourselves in as a nation. Nigerians deserve the best. As a country, we need to rise in our various spaces to save this nation. The government and the citizenry have a vital role to play in making our dreams translate into reality.
I foresee a country that respects the federal character principle and demonstrates religious tolerance. The Nigeria of our dreams is one where the government will adhere to this constitution and provide security for lives and property; ensure a peaceful environment; provide essential needs, employment, and a reliable judicial system; maintain law and order, and protect human rights. All of the aforesaid can be possible if we have a leader, not a ruler. Our leaders have failed to protect the interests of citizens due to illiteracy, corruption, bad followership, selfishness, lack of justice, discrimination, and lack of press freedom, etc. To achieve the Nigerian dream, first, we need a competent and visionary leader who seeks to empower the youth and involve them in governance; provide adequate support for teachers and make education free; invest heavily in human capacity, mechanized agriculture, housing, construction, and maintenance of our roads and human development. A leader who will shun corruption and put an end to endemic crime, insecurity, and terrorism. In the Nigeria of our dreams, gender, race, and discrimination will disappear, and good economic policies will be in place. Finally, the Nigerian dream is a country where female folks will be voted into office as president, governors, and senators, and there will be more appointments as ministers. ????????????????
I wish Nigerians a Happy lndepence Day anniversary. @64 Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite. ????????????????????????????
